Thermal Auricular Therapy, also known as Hopi Ear Candling is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions related to the ear, nose and throat including sinus problems, sore throats, hay fever, tinitus, compacted ear wax, headaches, migraines and stress. The candles, made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax, work by vapourising their ingredients once lit and creating a mild suction which lets the vapours gently massage the eardrum and auditory canal. Once the candle is placed in the ear it forms a seal which enables wax and other impurities to be drawn out of the ear. There’s evidence of a long history of use in many civilizations but the name arises from the native American Hopi (peaceful people) Indians of North Arizona who used candles in medicinal ceremonies and initiations to clear negative energies from the head and aura. Most clients find the treatment relaxing which eases stress and has a calming effect on the whole system. |
