Laughter Yoga is a fantastic stress management tool and a great team building exercise. Developed by a Medical Doctor in the mid 90’s, it’s a unique exercise routine which combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing.
The sessions start with gentle warm-up techniques which include stretching, clapping and body movement helping to break down inhibitions. Breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, followed by a series of ‘laughter exercises’ that lead to prolonged and hearty unconditional laughter which has wonderful therapeutic and preventative health benefits.
Stress hormones are reduced and endorphins released. In addition, a boost in the production of seratonin (a natural antidepressant) helps reduce depression and anxiety. Laughter Yoga classes are available in London and throughout the UK.
